Avondale and the rest of Eastern Pennsylvania straddle humid subtropical and humid continental climate zones, although the weather tends to feature more humid continental characteristics. Winters tend to be cold with variable snowfall. On average, February is the snowiest month with nearly 22 inches of total snow accumulation. Average high temperatures in January, the coldest month of the year, reach 39 degrees Fahrenheit, and residents will need to utilize their home furnace system to stay warm during these frigid winter months.

Avondale residents will also need to rely on their home air conditioning systems later in the year, as summers are hot with high humidity.
